My name is Mary Riley. After 16 years as a reporter and photographer for a community newspaper, I retired to care for my partner, who was suffering from dementia. It was a terrible time for both of us.
After his passing in 2021, I took time to reflect on how I wanted to spend my time, as I’ve never been one to park in front of the TV for hours at a time. So, after years without a pet, I adopted a cat, Cromwell and a few months later a German Shepherd puppy, Watson (I’m a huge Sherlock Holmes fan).
I decided to take up photography and writing again through this blog. I have met so many older people who seem to be afraid of exploring their own talents and God-given gifts. In creating this blog, I hope to share with you the words and images that are part of my daily life, and perhaps inspire you to do the same.
